Overview:
Silver dragons, also known as shield dragons, are revered for their noble demeanor and dedication to protecting the innocent. They embody justice, wisdom, and compassion, often serving as guardians of peace in their regions.
Physical Description:
Regal and statuesque, silver dragons possess shimmering scales that resemble polished metal. At first glance, they are sometimes mistaken for white dragons (which they dislike, as no noble dragon enjoys being confused with chromatic counterparts! wink).
Their wings are adorned with two talons each, and a beautiful frill transitions from silver to a soft purple hue. Long, smooth silver horns crown their heads, and a distinct chin frill gives them a slightly rugged, goatee-like appearance.
They carry a faint scent reminiscent of fresh rain, adding to their ethereal presence.
Combat Skills:
Though silver dragons prefer to avoid combat, their powers make them formidable opponents. They have two breath weapons:
A cone of freezing cold, similar to white dragons, which immobilizes foes.
A cone of paralyzing gas, rendering enemies helpless and vulnerable.
Silver dragons are also capable shape-shifters and skilled in magic, allowing them to adapt to various combat scenarios and fight with exceptional aerial grace. Despite their aversion to violence, when forced to defend, they are as deadly as any other dragon.
Personality
:Silver dragons are gentle yet proud creatures, always ready to assist those in need. They do not actively seek out evil but will fight to right injustices and protect the innocent. Their fondness for mortals, especially humans and elves, often leads them to live among them in humanoid form. Silver dragons are known to enjoy human dining and are frequent guests at grand feasts and gatherings, indulging in the customs of those they protect.
Culture/Interactions:
Silver dragons hold influential positions in dragon society, forming strong communities known as "clutches" or "councils." Their deep empathy and compassion often lead them to form strong bonds with mortals, particularly humans and elves. Silver dragons sometimes take on humanoid forms to live among these races for extended periods, immersing themselves in their cultures.
Their relationships with mortals are built on trust and camaraderie. When a beloved companion passes away, a silver dragon may continue to watch over their descendants for generations, serving as a lifelong protector. When deemed worthy, silver dragons may reveal their true forms to these companions, sharing their wisdom openly.
Enemies:
Silver dragons are often at odds with chromatic dragons, especially red dragons, who are their most frequent rivals. This enmity stems from the red dragons' destructive and evil tendencies, which stand in stark contrast to the silver dragons' dedication to preservation and protection. Additionally, both species prefer mountainous regions, leading to territorial disputes. Philosophical differences further deepen the conflict between these two dragon types, as their opposing natures inevitably lead to clashes.
Beyond red dragons, silver dragons are at odds with any being—whether dragon, human, or god—that seeks the destruction of Vacari. Their role as protectors extends to the defense of their homeland, and they will not hesitate to oppose any threat to its peace and existence.
Habitat/Territory:
Silver dragons inhabit remote regions such as mountain peaks and hidden valleys, where they can survey their territory in peace. Their chosen habitats offer ample solitude, ensuring that they can act as protectors without interference. These high-altitude locations often provide them with an advantageous position from which to observe and safeguard their domains.
Behavior/Society:
As peacekeepers, silver dragons are known for their diplomatic skills. They excel in resolving conflicts and mediating disputes, using their wisdom and fairness to maintain harmony. Fiercely devoted to their role as protectors, silver dragons will go to great lengths to safeguard the mortals and lands under their care.
Notable Silver Dragons:
Talleoss
Description: Majestic and wise, Talleoss bears battle scars that reflect his enduring commitment to freedom and justice. His silver scales have become a symbol of his resilience.
Appearances:
Shadows Unveiled: Talleoss was imprisoned within a crystal wand by Kadona, unbeknownst to Phoenix and Vuarus. Loyal to Kadona, he relayed information to her as best he could. He was freed by his mate, Silvara, during the Battle of Vacari. The Heart of Twilight was returned to him by Nerissa, a mermaid, which stripped Vuarus of his godlike powers, transforming him back into a black dragon. Talleoss ultimately defeated Vuarus, restoring balance.
Healing Bonds: Both Talleoss and his mate, Silvara, traveled to E'vahano, pledging protection to the Eladrin elves and their hidden realm. They took on elven forms to integrate with the Eladrin and teach other silver dragons their culture and customs.
Future Appearances: Their stories are far from over, as both Talleoss and Silvara will reappear in Dragons of Vacari, especially when they perceive any threat to the Eladrin elves or their hidden realm, E'vahano.
Silvara
Description: Gentle and nurturing, Silvara’s serene nature shines through her shimmering silver scales. She radiates calmness, a quality that endears her to all who meet her.
Appearances:
The Wicked Phoenix: Silvara protected Lord Karrenen during the Battle of Goldmoor, ensuring he could confront Phoenix when it mattered most.
Shadows Unveiled: Silvara destroyed the crystal wand containing her mate, Talleoss, freeing him and weakening Phoenix’s powers. This allowed Ong to fulfill his promise to Keisha by defeating Phoenix.
Healing Bonds: Alongside Talleoss, Silvara pledged her protection to the Eladrin elves in E'vahano, taking on an elven form to live among them and share her wisdom.
Future Appearances: Like Talleoss, Silvara will make future appearances in Dragons of Vacari to defend the Eladrin elves and E'vahano whenever a threat arises.
