The Cycles of Creation

Vacari’s reckoning of time is not divided by months or mortal invention, but by the celestial dance of its twin moons, Lunara and Veyr, and the pulse of its elemental ley lines. The world turns through Four Great Cycles, each a reflection of the elemental dominion that reigns for its span.

The Emberturn — Cycle of Flame and AwakeningWhen fire returns to the land, the Copper and Gold Ancients stir from slumber. The Emberwoods ignite with radiant blossoms, and forges across the realms burn brighter. It is a time of renewal, courage, and the forging of oaths.

The Veil of Silver — Cycle of Reflection and MoonlightUnder twin moons and shimmering frost, illusions veil the world. The Silver Ancients oversee this tranquil season when truth hides behind beauty, and the Eladrin practice their rites of remembrance beneath argent skies.

The Frostweave — Cycle of Stillness and EnduranceWinter’s dominion. The White and Silver Ancients weave cold clarity through air and stone. It is a season of introspection and survival—when mortals honor the endurance of dragons and the silence between heartbeats.

The Verdant Tide — Cycle of Renewal and BalanceLife bursts anew beneath the guardianship of the Green and Aquanor Ancients. Rivers thaw, forests awaken, and magic hums through the roots of the world. It is both ending and beginning—where the Balance renews itself.

The Eladrin Reckoning

The Eladrin do not measure time in cycles of sun and moon but in Phases of Bloom. Each phase mirrors the rise and fall of their inherent magic:

  • Moonbloom – growth and enlightenment

  • Twilightfall – introspection and art

  • Waning Veil – fading of power, wisdom gained

  • Evershine – rebirth, when ancient magic renews itself

Eladrin calendars are living works of art, petals etched with silver runes that shift hue as the moonlight changes—no two ever the same.

The Sylvan and Aquanor Reckoning

The Sylvan Elves follow the Breath of Seasons, guided by the forests’ heartbeats. Their year begins when the Great Oak of Thal’Sien blossoms and ends when it sheds its final leaf. They name their seasons for what the forest gives:Seedwake, Leafsong, Harvestshade, and Slumberfall.

The Aquanor, kin of sea and storm, follow the Tides of Lunara and Veyr. Each phase of the moons determines ocean currents, migration, and prophecy. Their reckoning divides time into Four Depthsthe Rising, the Crest, the Falling, and the Still—each tied to their worship of the Tidefather and the Whispering Goddess.

The Human Reckoning

Mortal kingdoms, ever pragmatic, trace their history by Wars and Harvests. They follow the Solar Reckoning, a calendar of twelve Houses, each named after a virtue or ancient hero. Though less poetic, their system governs trade, diplomacy, and record-keeping across the continents. Yet even they bow to the greater celestial shifts, for armies march and crops bloom according to the dragons’ cycles, not human decree.

The Druchii and Umber Reckoning

The darker kin—the Druchii and Umber Elves—count not time’s passing but its decay. Their calendars are carved into obsidian tablets, each mark a memory of conquest or loss.

  • The Druchii measure Cycles of Shadow, believing that each ends when a dominion falls and a new one rises.

  • The Umber mark time by Echoes, believing history repeats until vengeance is complete.

To them, time is a weapon—sharpened by patience, wielded by hate.

The Dragons’ Reckoning

To dragons, time is not a straight path but a spiral of elemental recurrence. Their lore speaks of Eras of Flame, Frost, and Balance, each ruled by different dragon flights. When a new Era dawns, the world itself changes: mountains shift, seas rise, and the magic of mortals is rewritten.

The Nobles keep their reckoning through the constellations—the Draconic Crown, The Coiled Flame, and The Weeping Star. Each alignment signals the rise or fall of an ancient power. Only the Celestial and Platinum Ancients are said to know the true count of the world’s ages.

The Divine Reckoning

Above all mortal and draconic measures lies the Divine Cycle—the rhythm by which gods themselves shape destiny. It is said there have been only three true Ages in Vacari:

  1. The Age of Flame – Creation, when gods and dragons walked together.

  2. The Age of Frost – Division, when mortals turned from divine light.

  3. The Age of Shadow – Present day, when balance trembles and the Dominion stirs.

The gods mark not days, but deeds—for to them, time is measured by the weight of what is done, not how long it endures.

“The world’s heart does not beat to seconds or suns. It beats to dragons, to gods, and to the will of those who remember.”From the Battlecraft Archives, Volume VII: The Celestial Reckonings of Vacari
